Programs for All Ages

Our programs operate under two core beliefs.

  • The first is that humans learn best through play.
  • The second is that growth comes from overcoming challenges. Classes here at Vision Quest Martial Arts strike a fine balance between being ridiculously fun, and consistently challenging.

At our classes you will learn striking, wrestling, and other techniques that allow you to protect yourself and others from harm.

You will grow to feel confident in your own abilities, and deeply proud of the skills you have cultivated.

Tigers

Ages 4-6

Our Tigers program is designed to build strength, confidence, and coordination in martial arts skills. We encourage this growth through a play-based curriculum so students are motivated to learn in the most natural way possible.

Tigers learn the basics of self-defense; how to strike with focused power, how to be strong in a stance, and how to escape common holds. They also learn our basic verbal self-defense techniques. They learn how to intelligently use their bodies, and build up strength and flexibility. Students are taught our core character attributes: Honesty, Courage, Self-Discipline, Empathy, Respect, Confidence, and Focus.

We teach these traits by talking through real-life scenarios that are applicable to their age. For example, how to treat your parents with respect, how to have empathy for their peers, or how to stay disciplined with your chores. These are the attributes of a black belt, and so they are every bit a part of our curriculum as the kicks and techniques.

Panthers

Ages 7-10

Our Panthers program is designed to create Youth Black Belts. Youth Black Belts are students who are deeply disciplined, focused, and courageous. Our play-based curriculum sets the stage for them to learn all of the self defense skills they need to protect themselves, and an empathetic yet firm approach to discipline teaches them how to control their focus.

Panthers develop strength, agility, and flexibility by performing a variety of calisthenic exercises designed to build up their core body functionality. With these skills they are able to execute techniques with more speed, power and grace.

By pursuing martial arts at this level, students develop emotional maturity and resilience. By practicing with peers there are inevitably conflicts. Our goal is to provide a safe environment where students can be coached through these conflicts and given the proper tools to handle them. At the end of the day, this is the most important and relevant form of self-defense one can obtain.

Youth Masters

Ages 10-14

Our Youth Masters program is for early teens and our youth black belts! Students learn self-defense techniques that they use in practice against each other, in either sparring or wrestling matches. Youth Masters first learn how to escape threatening holds and how to defend themselves from strikes against a cooperative partner.

Once they have developed skills in this arena, they will learn how to apply these defenses against a partner who is no longer cooperative, but now actively works against them. This is an excellent arena for building self confidence, as it allows students to collect evidence that they are in fact capable of defending themselves against attacks.

The culture in Youth Masters is one of acceptance and growth. Students who struggle with insecurity quickly find they don’t feel judged by their peers, and learn how to apply themselves from encouragement of coaches and students. A constant sense of humor keeps classes relaxed so students can be authentic in their interactions with their peers.

Adults

Ages 15+

Our Adults program is for older teenagers and adults alike! This is a beginner friendly class focused on empowering new students with the skills they need to defend themselves against attack. Join a group of like-minded students who leave their ego at the door. Our goal is to help each other improve, not to see who is best! Your peers will encourage you and cheer you on as you train your strength, skill, and agility.
